This position reports to the Group Head of Retail Media Sales

Your responsibilities will include:

Accountable for achieving the Group’s Client Portfolio Target, by:

  • Drive performance within a sales team (5-10 people) to deliver against RM sales targets
  • Ensure that Sales processes are complete and adhered to, & service processes and that target tracking is kept up to date
  • Identify shortfalls in the sales process and help improve efficiency and productivity
  • Track key productivity metrics and manage the team against key outcomes.
  • Drive improvements in the quality of data and reporting offered to clients
  • Develop strategies for acquiring new advertising customers, and retaining and upselling existing customers
  • Assist in the hands-on management of strategic brands and support client engagement for high-value advertising customers
  • Manage and support a team of Sales Specialists with day-to-day operations
  • Coach the advertising sales team to improve their sales skills and pipeline-building performance, closing deals, and retaining business.
  • Work with the broader management team to set monthly targets for the sales team which is aligned with the business targets
  • Ensure a solid sales pipeline is in place for a period and that there is a plan for big clients in line with their 12-month budgets
  • Ensure a solid future-planning method is in place for top 30 clients on at least a quarterly basis 
  • Creating Annual plans and driving them to encourage account growth (GMV) and collaboration (misses on RMA)
  • Collaborate and facilitate x-functional team environments between the Sales Specialists, Marketing, Merchant, and Finance teams.
  • Build presentations and deliver sales pitches to close new business.
  • Recruiting and onboarding of new Sales Specialists (AMs & KAMs)
  • Performance Management of Sales Specialists (AMs & KAMs)
  • Driving the adoption and usage of Takealot's self-service advertising platform by Retail, Marketplace and Advertising agencies.
  • Proactively participate in content planning 
  • Collect feedback from suppliers about the advertising platform and provide useful insights to enhance the platform and service offering further.
  • Improve NPS scoring, retention, and account growth metrics.
  • Serve as a thought leader, running educational webinars and/or sharing as a speaker at events.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Digital Communications.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Retail/Media Advertising
  • Fluent in English language (both verbal and written)
  • Publisher, or relevant Industry partner responsible for driving client portfolio growth, with evidence of meeting/ exceeding sales targets.
  • Minimum of 2 years managing a Sales Team
  • Experience in establishing sales management processes
  • Experience with CRM tool(s)
  • eCommerce experience is preferred but not required
